Rotator cuff anatomy

The site of supraspinatus above the spine of the scapula on its way to  insert into the greater tuberosity of the humerus.

What action can this muscle perform on the shoulder joint?

    Hi,

Supraspinatous is classically responsible for the abduction of the arm at the shoulder for the first 30 degrees until the deltoid muscle takes over. The deltoid works in conjunction with scapulo-thoracic rotation to raise the arm, 30-180 degrees. To check the function of supraspinatous it is important to stabilise the tip of the scapula between thumb and forefinger.

    James

Good answer James – where have you been learning all this?!
      Thanks JAD
